We Petty Bourgeois: Zhao Gang is an independent project part of Platform China’s one year long exhibition Jungle II – A Thriving Morphology. The project will be carried out into phases, first the artist’s solo exhibition accompanied by a conversation. Along with Platform China’s mode of production, the conversation evolves around the artist’s subjectivity and his genuine way of expression. Zhao Gang’s personal experiences will be analyzed and discussed during the table conversation, therefore the conversation acts as a platform from where to interact and communicate. Having experienced the crazy moment of Red China while being influenced by the time spent away from home, Gang’s distinctive artistic style takes shape by not only his personal experiences but also by the contradiction and conflict of ideologies from the different cultures. With this project, we look forwar d to presenting amore in-depth analyses of Zhao Gang and his art.
